Greetings Brother Knights,

“Back to Basics”! Why do we bring new members into our organization? How welcoming are we to our parish family? How supportive is your council to your pastor or priest Administrator? These are just a few questions I want you to think about for this new fraternal year. Of course, there are many of you who do many events at your parish and participate in various ministries. What I am asking is, “When was the last time your council hosted a dinner for your pastor (for his birthday or ordination anniversary)”; or, how often do you wear your council badge to Mass or parish events; or, have you made that effort to say “Hi” to that new person or new face at Mass? I believe that when we make the effort to be Christ like, then everything will fall into place. Through hospitality, we promote fraternalism, charity and unity. More so, we promote membership! Do you believe me? Try it and you let me know if it works. The common fact amongst all brother Knights is our faith. It is the principle of who we are and what we stand for. So, here’s another question, how many councils pray just one decade of the rosary before each official gathering; or, do you pray before and after each meeting; or, when was the last time you sponsored a corporate Mass for your council? We should practice what we believe in, that’s the power of prayer. So please let me know if you have instituted any new programs to promote your relationship with your pastor or parish family.
