Over the years, Council 9833 has provided altar server parties, supported residents at Marianwood with Christmas gifts and beauty care, provided Christmas luminaries and trees for the church, hosted numerous social events, worked the barbeques at parish picnics, and completed several landscaping projects on the church grounds.
Typical Monthly Activities include: Pancake Breakfasts, Work parties at the church.
Annual activities include: Crab Feed, St. Patrick's Day Party,
Oktoberfest, Christmas Party
The MQP Knights also provide Rosaries to all MQP First Communicants. The Knights of Columbus recently completed the Marian Grotto behind the church.
For it, the council received the International Service Program Award from the Supreme Council of the
Knights of Columbus, in the Church Activity category. Prior to that award, the Grotto was
recognized as the top project within Washington state.
The council meetings are held at 7:30pm every
Second Tuesday of the Month in the
McGivney Room. When we have candidates available, we have our first degree exemplifications prior to our council meetings.
For those interested, during evenings of good weather, some of the Brother Knights meet in the grotto at 7:00 prior to the meetings in which there is not a 1st degree exemplification to say the rosary. For inclement weather, we will meet in the chapel.
Mary Queen of Peace Council
was founded on June 8, 1988 less than a year after the parish was
formed. Council 9833 was formed with thirty-seven charter members from
councils in St.Jude's and St.Joseph's parishes. The numerical
designation of the council represents that it was the 9,833rd Knights of
Columbus council formed. The full name of the Council is Mary Queen of
Peace of the Plateau Council 9833.
Council 9833 works closely with the Mary Queen of Peace Parish in
Sammamish, providing funds for various projects, members being active
participants in their parish. etc. We sponsor activities for the
betterment of the family, parish, and community.
